Unlike other freelancers who have either never worked in-house or have worked only briefly for publishers, Lynn has a proven track record of success of twenty years as both an accomplished managing editor and a contract-based provider of editorial services. Please read some of the testimonials Lynn has received from satisfied clients and former colleagues.
Lynn has overseen the creation and production of hundreds of volumes of several ongoing, flagship literature reference series. In addition, she developed new literature reference product lines and mentored and guided the work of dozens of her colleagues in editorial, sales, and production, as well as that of outside vendors. Lynn’s 2003 publication, a 3-volume set entitled The Beat Generation: A Gale Critical Companion, was honored as an “Outstanding Reference Source” by RUSA (Reference and User Services Association, a division of the American Library Association).
Lynn has created and distributed product specifications and editorial standards; administered schedules and budgets; collaborated with editorial, programming, and composition departments to help author and revise SGML DTDs; written in-house and vendor process documentation for keying, indexing, and other services; and has convened and solicited feedback from an advisory board of academic, public, and school librarians to address product development issues and create new products. She has worked for both reference and academic publishers, and has a reputation for problem solving, reliability, beating deadlines, and scrupulous attention to detail. She is noted for her exceptional editorial and communication skills, and for producing the best results with a personal touch and a healthy dose of humor.
